Don't buy MHGU, get 3U and 4U because those are genuinely great games that are much more accurate to the MH formula and it doesnt do any shitty spinoff shit because they are the really good mainline titles.
I got onto it late though am I missing out on any of those not playing with others? I already have those, I just wanted something new for my switch and GU happens to be on sale. As far as I know all the content is doable on your own, all you're missing out on is the jolly co-operation. Both were censored The main chick in RE2 has her sexy original outfit removed and replaced with sjw lara craft tier shit and DMC5 has censored cutscenes. Buy it its great.
Its the last good Monster Hunter. It runs really good as well. It was meant as a fun animeish spinoff celebration of monhun and some anons just don't get that. Its pure unadulterated fun. I do not like furries but I do like the way you type broken English. It is somehow charming. You are alright. You've never played the older games right? Basically they just neutered everything to be retard friendly.
Actually having to prepare for hunts, actually having to put some thought into armor sets, actually having to pay attention to things, they dumbed it all down to appeal to lazy fucks who never cared about the series before and never would until they were told to with mass marketing and shiny graphics.
Same thing that happens to just about every other game series, people get greedy and shit out some casualized abortion for quick shekels without any care for quality. Picture guy's a bit overdramatic, but the game sucks and is boring, I'll give MHW that. I've been seeing this shit since the dawn of fucking time and I'm starting to think this is made by the same fucking people over and over again.
Can't wait for the next one to come out and see retards tell people to just go back to World because "the new one changed too much". You still do that, I just spent a good amount of time grinding a good set to fuck over Velkhana. You have to pay attention to more things now, what the fuck nigger the environment of World is both beneficial and hazardous to the player, you have to pay attention to the monster, the other roaming monsters and where you're fighting.
Monsters have a lot more health in Iceborne making use of the environment all the more important. I don't understand how USING the environment in a monster HUNTING game is a bad thing, for fuck sake situational hazards are something they've been trying out since the 2nd gen but only now were able to capitalize on it, because of what I assume were hardware restrictions of the limited consoles. I bet some of you don't even want a monster hunting game, call it monster arena if you will, just go in a small arena with nothing but the monster and wail on him until it's dead.
I can't remember the last fucking time I though a HR game was hard, because since the 3rd gen they haven't been hard at all. No you fucking didn't, just kill Rathalos, craft his set in LR and then repeat the same for HR while upgrading it and done, you beat HR in 4U and X easily with little to no thought put into it.
Nice flavor text, you people have no perspective. You couldn't just simply copy paste like they kept doing for fucking years. I've been playing MH since the first fucking gen and World is, whether you like to admit it or not, the game they wanted to make since the first ever Monster Hunter, it was going to be somewhat as open as world but they couldn't get that going with the hardware, thus the gameplay was worked around those limitations, that's why now they had to change so much to fit a new format.
That's a whole lot of words that you're trying to say, but you know it all just comes out "gmgurtmgmgphmgm" with Capcom's MHWorld dick in your mouth, right? Hey, thanks for reminding me that there's now a game worse than Tri. That's one of the very very few things the pastry heeb ever dun did right. Come on, you think Worldfags deserve a legitimate response at this point?
The irony being that for every one of his "problems" with the game, there's some other cumguzzling Capcom fan on the defense explaining why those things are good for the series in exactly the same manner.
Toddlers with standards as low as Reddit don't get a multiple paragraph reply with each and every one of their points addressed in full, they get made fun of. That 3rd world monkey needs to fuck off from here and stay where he fucking belongs, back outside his out with his own people. I have never in my life, seen or heard anyone from anywhere defend the deco farming, story, weapon designs and mantles in World, specially in these very threads.
The problem isn't that you have to adapt to new mechanics, is that the power dynamic between hunter and monster has gotten shafted and the new mechanics are so half assed that they feel like pointless additions. You're faster but the monsters are sometimes even slower than before, this alone makes fighting them way less interesting.
What's the point of removing loadzones if you're gonna replace them with corridors where nothing happens and monsters behave the same way by obeying area boundaries? All it did was pad out the game since you have to spend way longer now chasing after a monster. Why are turf wars always free damage? There's no reason to push monsters away from each other since their infighting isn't massive enough to cause problems to you and it mostly happens without player input.
You speak of having to keep track of more things, but monsters are always marked on the UI so you won't have surprise pickle or hot rajang dick coming for your ass. The biggest problem for me with World is that it didn't change enough. Monsters are as strong or weaker than before but you're faster or removing load zones but the level design is extremely similar to before areas connected by corridors to name a few.
And that's not even going into the easy to see garbage decisions like you mentioned. The game feels extremely imbalanced and half baked in areas so they can focus on stupid shit to appeal to casuals like a shitty story or making you feel like a badass instead of becoming one by overcoming the odds. If they fixed the monsters in Iceborne, great. Still not paying for the base game plus expansion plus Denuvo plus shit performance plus tons of cosmetic microtransactions paying for one use tickets to change my character you fucking serious that shit's as easy as opening the character create screen and overwriting my old character data with the new one fuck you Capcom plus the fundamentally bad decisions like map design and lack of good weapon designs.
Also no Quropeco because Capcom is fucking retarded. And while I'm at it fuck limited time events, I can still boot up FU and download event quests or make the MGS armor in P3rd, but right now on consoles you can't even fight the latest monster they added and make its gear because it's out of rotation.
World is the best version of Monster Hunter ever and there's nothing you can do about it. People have been screaming this since 4 and for me 4u is still the best in the series. Are you really gonna act like monsters never put themselves right into a zone transition area?
Are you really going to act like you've never been sent flying by an attack into another zone completely taking you out of the fight? Are you really going to act like people didn't abuse these to go into safe zones and heal up? These loadzones have always been detrimental to the games and were only there because of hardware restrictions.
I'd take these new corridors where I can fight monsters, set up traps and gather over the loadzones that just take me out of the game. And yes you can absolutely fights monsters in these places, the thing is most monsters will flee from them because they are in a disadvantage, notice how Toby will always run away to areas with trees nearby, fighting in such a closed off space would make Toby a cake walk, Uragaan for example will absolutely still fight you in these areas because he can fucking dominate in them.
Now I will agree that the structure is still the same but this was done more to appeal to the same logic as in the other games areas being numbered and helping the monsters keep separate from each other in an easier way. For grounded? For most of them sure, I can agree. But for Airborne monsters this is absolutely not the case. Monsters in World will always be relatively close to a camp, if you know where a monsters is going, use it to get there faster, I've tested it with my copy of XX and keeping up with a monster in World is faster than in XX if they are flying.
Grounded enemies do make the process slower, but you can always trap them in between the corners, throw a flash, and force them into a fight. Monsters have always dealt free damage to each other, now it's done through a very cinematic experience, which of course I do think it's worse. If they are to keep happening they should be quicker because you can still wail on them while they are pulling of their animation. Not really the case anymore, they still do a lot of damage but monsters have a ton more HP than in base game.
I've ran out of dung bombs and seen tempered hell. Also besides the "turf war" which not all monsters have with one another, damage done by attacks is very minimal to each other, with the exception of Deviljho, which has always been your best hunting partner.
So getting monsters away is mostly beneficial, unless if you like random monsters ruining your trips. I was talking about the areas themselves, keeping an away for environmental hazards both for you and the monster that you can use, slopes and ledges that can be useful or detrimental to you depending on the situation and weapon choice, keeping an eye on other close by monsters because a roar is enough to fuck you over in this game.
But you'd be surprised at how many times a Deviljho has sneaked up on me. Monster are only marked and recognized in your map after you already hunted them a couple of times and after gathering a few tracks. Not breaking any ground for innovating the "hunt" but it sure beats walking over to 12 different zones until you find your target or an airship to wave at and call it "hunting".
It's not much different than having a paintball on your target or tracking skills, plus it's not like you're going to get sneaked up with psychoserums available, You can know exactly where everything is as soon as you start a hunt in the "older" games. You can just buy the Master version that comes with the base game, it's no different than buying a G rank game. I swear my sense of direction isn't that good but I think I got lost in it maybe once. You know a thing that's useful in world is that exploring the areas is rewarding and gives you enough information that makes it so you no longer need to go to kiranico for information, it's all in the game, and you get it by exploring.
Agreed, they don't bring them back a lot of times but it's still not an acceptable system. Don't get me wrong anon, I'm not a fan of loadzone fuckery either, I think it could have been improved with a prompt to transition instead of just being teleported without player control.
I am however the asshole that think monsters only go to those areas if you fight in such a way that leads them there, it was still a pain in the ass when it happened. I was watching a friend play and Nergigante kept disengaging to go back to sleep every time he went down a corridor so it's not like you can't leave to heal in this new system.
Invading monsters aren't on the field the moment the quest starts. It's always fun to have pickle come out of the ground during a quest or enter the area out of nowhere, and with psychoserums they last so little time you'll only use them to find the monster you're hunting, after that's done you'll be blind to other monsters that later enter the map.
While true, the damage was either minimal or in Pickle's case a nightmare to handle, you'd more often than not get hit too so dung bomb was always on the menu. The problem with turf wars is when a monster enters the area you're fighting another monster, it disengages you to go do a cinematic action with the other monster, and depending on the monsters are you basically got given a good chunk of free damage not because you were smart, not because you used the environment against it, but because one monster decided to randomly walk in and deal a thousand damage to your target.
Its just 2 autists having a pointless internet fight convincing no once which game is better. If you enjoy MHW, more power to you, if you don't like it, thats perfectly fine too. But you are making a BIG mistake caring about the story in a MH game when its actually the least important thing about it, its all about fighting the monsters and getting better gear to fight stronger and crazier monsters.
If you actually bought the game you should see it through to the end. They keep trying to strongarm her into everything, no one likes her. No one wants her. The gathering hub girls are better and serious handler was to good for this world. I always wondered what in the fuck were they thinking adding her into the game and then shoving her face everywhere.
How did the development team allow her existence when the previous guild girls were so great? My theory is that she was put in the game to spite the west and that serious handler was also added in to tease us and show us that they can of course do better but they purposely didn't because they want to see us all suffer, why? The thing is I like both XX and World despite me giving X a bit of too much shit because of how it feels like a cash grab, regardless I still largely enjoy it, both have different strengths and weaknesses.
I just hate seeing missinfo going around as fact, and in regard to World that seems to happen a lot in these threads, fuck people kept posting that Baroth webm where his AI shit the bed almost every thread after World's release but never mentioned the fact that it was from the first beta of the game. I just like monster hunter, World is a terrible game to co-op in because of it's forced story, so you're right to have dropped it. They trade the Handler for the Serious Handler in Iceborne through some parts of the story, I fucking hope someone manages to sneak in a mod that permanently replaces her.
She looks too dude like to me and something about her face just instinctively pisses me off. I was the one who notified the thread of that video then the barroth posting autist took an interest in it. It was gameplay from the beta of from a now deleted video. I guess that video really rocked his world due to people never really seeing monsters glitch out in the previous gens. The only good thing about world is the combat. The flow and movesets have never been better and muh graphics.
Thats it. If there was a 5u with traditional monhun everything but keeping worlds combat and graphics that would be the best monhun. I'm incredibly disappointed there have been no colossal mod expansions bringing actual content into the game and removing the shit. The mods for this are the most basic of shit and that is very sad.
People can't mod the fucking game with Denuvo and Crapcom fucking it up, the same thing happened with MGS5 and Sonic Manic, springboard games for mods that got fucked before release. Overall the main problem I have with the new game is that monsters don't make as much use of the environment as you do. Pukei can buff his attacks by feeding on certain plants and Kulu can eat eggs from nests to regain stamina but otherwise nothing takes advantage of the healing plants and other nonsense though it is nice how certain monsters will prefer to fight you in areas where that add quake effects to their attacks.
Another issue is them kind of forcing the palico on you, the chaka laka kid was annoying and sometimes a hindrance so I didn't feel bad leaving him behind but your cat brings a lot to the table in terms of interacting with the environment and especially the grimalkynes that leaving him behind feels like I'm missing out on a bunch of content. Additionally, the scout flies are really intrusive and I'd prefer that tracks and other interactables were simply more clearly marked.
All the graphical enhancements make it harder to find things and just having the icons that show up when you get close to them instead have an option to be toggled on all the time would have worked better.
Finally, the slinger should've been something that went in the tool slot so that when you gain more tools later on their is something you have to give up instead of just getting free damage soak and other claptrap. Tools also should require refueling with resources so that you have to put work in to get benefits from them. Overall the technological benefits seem to more than outweigh some of these poor design decisions.
Also, some of the new stuff fixes retardation from the previous games. Monsters SHOULD fight each other, and many skills are so weak requiring you to dedicate multiple armor pieces to activating them is needlessly obtuse.
Heck, the previous games had armor that had enough skill points on it to activate skills in the forms of earrings and jewelry with the trade off being those pieces typically had poor defense.
That being said, the games direction bodes ill for the series. Anything that becomes popular turns to shit, and I guarantee you that the sales of this game are more attributable to all the shiny graphics and cutscenes than the changes to gameplay. If Monster Hunter can retain its soul in the face of overwhelming bad feedback from secondaries then it'll enter a golden era, but from what I'm hearing about Iceborne I fear the opposite case has come to pass.
I mean I guess it's neat that they're trying to get an unplayable character working in DMC5, it's much more than people gave a shit about doing with MHW and MGS5 but the guy still had to make a trainer for it. Everybody Who use my thread and insult me even a single word. I will cure you to suffer. Oh and don't think Mark delete my post and my cures will not effect to you.
Sega missed the train on Sonic modders marketing Mania with user created content like fucking retards. The weapon visuals are shit in World, but I do like some of its armor sets. The HR Beta Pukei Pukei duster is one I've not been able to let go, even in fights where statistically it's a detriment. Maybe I'm autistic about fantasy dusters, but it a nice set. The handler face mod was a godsend for her being forced as much as she was. I don't recall any occasion or game that had a character model that so easily ruined immersion and the suspension of disbelief.
Now that mods are in turmoil for the moment, I don't know what I'm going to do without it. Not play it? If someone fixes it the cheat protection shit will still fuck up online play. I know that the devs arent retarded enough to screw over harmless modders on PC in a co-op based game with dumb anti cheat measures and what not.
That anti cheat shit is so bad it fried one guys CPU to death. There is no way that this wasnt corporate interference by the still kinda retarded and out of touch capcom suits. Do you guys even know how modding would even effect multiplayer?
Was it ever really that much of a big deal to the game and the community? The Handler is just another one of those "make women ugly to appeal to SJW complaints that women are too good looking" pieces of fuckery. Same as with that fuck ugly mystery meat in DMCV. Capcom loves pandering to "western SanFran sensibilities". I found the combat to be one of the worst aspects of it. It feels like your character has shoes made out of soap, and rather than being heavily based around careful timing of the momentum of attacks, it seems more based around waiting for the monster to pause and then mashing attacks out.
Feels closer to Witcher 3 combat than previous games honestly. Its literally the same as previous games but with the addtion of extra movesets, dodging forward with lance and gunlance and sliding down on slopes. You still have to time your attacks, you still have to line up the proper angles so you hit the hitbox of those juicy areas and you still have to get used to the monsters pattern of attack just like in the prevoius games. Slinger not included of course. I'll admit it is a little more streamlined Monster Hunter game, but what's wrong with that?
At least it is easier to actually get people to finish missions. But of course the last Monster Hunter game I played was Tri, so my opinion is irrelevant. My guess is that they're the kinds of people who dumped 's of hours into the older games, which, again, implies autism. I want to hear the opinions of the guy who only played 50 hours of each game.
Anyway, changing of subject. They confirmed that they won't release any more expansions of Monster Hunter World right? On the other hand, faster gathering and not having to make separate gunner vs blade master armors are improvements in my view.
This anon hit the nail on the head. In general MHW does some new things really well but falls flat on its ass with other things and the fact that the game isnt exactly like the older games such as freedom unite, pisses them off because they wont get anymore games like freedom unite. I guess I understand, yet I never played freedom unite so I can't entirely get what it misses.
How many monsters are missing? Before World I was playing Tri and it didn't had too many monsters either. Or at least I couldn't get as far as I wanted to see all the monsters because I played alone.
MHW is a new gen so thats why it started with hardly any monsters just like how the original MH and tri started out, but autists always like to complain about anything they dont like even if it doesnt make much sense to do so. Oh and by those numbers I meant the amount of monsters in the game in general in comparison to the other games because anons kept bitching about how MHW had few monsters in it.
Regardless of the gameplay, I think MHW would be a lot more enjoyable without the silly plot and characters forced in your face, or have guild quests again for online progression.
I find the online a little too souless compared to the previous games. There is too much emphasis on dropping in and dropping out, and playing with friends is a hassle since you can't join a game till they finish all the cutscenes.
Oh boy if only there was a thread full of reasons why the game is a fucking piece of shit and a disgrace to the series. I think its pretty universal sentiment. Especially since it interferes with Co-op. Both players need to have seen the cinematic, otherwise you can't join each others game. This results in people going in to watch a cinematic which may or may not require running around to get to first, then leaving the game and remaking.
And rolling back with every other weapon, which makes attacks like the Rath tail spins a joke especially due to the new telegraphed animation instead of something you have to always be on your toes, serving it's purpose as a disengagement tool for the monsters.
It also removed uniqueness from weapon types lances being the only blademaster weapons to be able to back hop but unable to dodge forward while other weapons could roll forward but not backwards. Because knowing a monster can do an attack that will fuck you over, and weighing that possibility in my decision making so I play carefully to avoid it is bad. Next you're gonna say this fucker from Streets of Rage 2 is bad because he punishes you for trying to combo him because you're too stupid to work around it.
Learning to avoid a monsters attacks and decide what to do to avoid it is an obvious thing to do, I of couse play like that but downright instantaneous attacks are a bit bullshit and unfair dont you think? Pink Rathian was absolute ass cancer to fight back in MH4U and I seen so many people get their shit wrecked by that instant tail flip of hers.
The only way to git gud at dealing with that is playing like a complete and total pussy or being an autist with super human senses like me because I would dodge that shit with a narga evade set.
The telegraph isnt even that bad its around a quarter of a second or less, monsters in previous games used to telegraph their attacks too, such as zinogre with its claw slam and ground brightening lightning bolts.
Untelegraphable attacks are nothing but lazy and bad game design and anyone who is not a retard should know that too. Stay to the left of her head your right if you're facing her head-on. I'm not defending Garuga's sprint here which would have been fine if it didn't have a box wide hitbox at the start of the sprint so being to its side means you still get hit. Anon, think for a second. I'm not the one going up to her without any flashbombs, she gets close to me and tries it on me when im distracted with healing, sharpening, stuck in a corner, etc.
Thinkin bout using a switchaxe. I normally use a HH and lance but I want to try something new. It happens to me too and it's frustrating, but it's a lesson learned to be more careful next time. Time your heals and sharpens better and avoid fighting in a way that you end up backed into a corner by the monster. I only remember having trouble with her in FU when I played it with my brother years ago.
My memory's fucky I'll admit, I understand why instant attacks are frustrating, but I love the satisfaction of thinking two steps ahead of a monster and being in a position and state where I'm fully prepared to effortlessly dodge such moves and mount a counter attack. World's faster movement speed wouldn't be a problem if monsters were faster too to compensate. Did Iceborne fix the monsters to be more up to speed with the player? Just stick with one weapon and specialize on it. You won't have enouth resources to keep two weapons well upgraded, at least not if you want them to be relevant.
Also, what is the best Iceborne greatsword? I'm using the final boss greatsword but I miss my nitro greatsword. Also I've heard good things about the new boss even weapons. I use dodogama HH too but I recently tried out the bagelgoose SA and found it to be an awfully slow weapon to use especially in sword mode compared to the HH.
I tried fighting the new Tobi-Kadachi sub species with it but it kept on out maneuvering me and clapped my cheeks. The sa does hit a bit hard but I never feel that OOMPH and it of course doesnt do any KO damage like how the HH does, so its opportunity to get more changes to deal more damage through giving monsters brain hemorrhage induced seizures stacked with spicy musical attack buffs is gone.
It still is a pretty good weapon though, I anally raped dire miralis with it back in MH3U. I personally want to try out the SnS and see how it goes for me, I used it and the DB back in the ps4 version and loved em, they take forever to grind for though. It's pretty obvious you just want to complain about people not liking what you like.
What makes World shit is the sheer lack of commitment in everything you as a player can do. Every weapon is now more mobile and you're able to move while locked into almost any animation. Using items in combat is no longer punishable because in the worst case you can just cancel out of using them and with the clutch claw, even catching up to the monster is now a mindless button press. And that's just the normal hunting gameplay. At best World is turning the deliberate gameplay of the older titles into in-the-moment gameplay like Devil May Cry.
At worst it's casualizing for mass market appeal. Do you honestly mean to tell me the number and magnitude of complaints for MH4 were nearly as severe as for World? Maybe on cuckchan, but definitely not here. Most people did keep on recommending 4U as starting point, as it's a far better series introduction. This applies to the older games as well. The only difference is that you get free dragonators and distractions, can try to stay on slopes to abuse the broken sliding moves, and can grind for an improved psychic armor skill that doesn't even need armor or gems.
Were they given resources and modern know-how, studios and hardware to develop for, they still wouldn't have made World after making the first MonHun. The player movement and interaction weren't held back by hardware or lack of resources, they were deliberately implemented that way.
You're comparing apples to oranges. Fast travel is unrelated to corridor cancer and it absolutely takes less time to go through a loading screen than to go through most of the corridors, especially if you factor in that you enter the room displaced towards the center of the room. Yet at the same time they completely fucked with the blood splashes from the older games so you can't reliably judge hitzones during combat, especially with damage numbers turned off.
That was the criticism, the story is too awful to be painfully shoved down your throat like it is. The point is that you have to look at the attacks, think and adapt. You know you can fake out the swipe and dodge to the other side, right?
Did you even fight the gold and silver raths? SA is a bit like HH in that the attack and uncancelable recovery time are short for both of them. Try to memorize the combos for dynamically switching modes and learn what animation combos into what. Roars Across the Hinterlands: The Chase 9.
